Frequently asked questions
Is the price on the page the amount I will pay?
No. Published figures are starting “from” prices including VAT. The questionnaire shows a provisional monthly range. Your final quotation follows an assessment of the application, licensing, storage, backup and security requirements.
What is the difference between Enterprise and two servers?
Enterprise is one premium managed server (from R12,600/month). If the application and database should run on separate servers, we quote two managed servers — typically from R25,200/month. That pair is not included in the Enterprise list price.
Windows or Linux — does the price change?
The package from-price is the managed server. A Windows Server licence is an extra add-on and is quoted separately. Linux does not need that licence. RDS, SQL Server and Windows edition upgrades are also quoted extra.
Do you offer unmanaged server rental?
No. Our advertised server packages are managed services that include setup, monitoring, automated backups, patching and a defined maintenance allowance. This allows Strand Web to maintain the security and reliability of the environment.
How do backups work?
Managed servers use automated daily backups and a stated retention period. Business and Enterprise include backup-success verification. We do not sell “hours of backup labour” — restore tests and extra retention are quoted.
How does billing work?
The commitment is 12 months. Billing is month-to-month via debit order (eMandate signed online). Extra server labour is quoted after approval — it is not assumed at the website hourly rate.
